Diptychs and Triptychs

The dictionary definition for a diptych is a work made up of two matching or connecting parts, while a triptych is a work made up of three matching or connecting parts. They are used for storytelling in forms of 2D art, such as photography, drawing, and painting. They present imagery that can be either of the same subject or contrasting ideas.

^ This piece is a good example of a diptych because of the stark contrast between the subject matter. One side displays light arms on a dark background, while the other side features dark legs on a white background.
