Kara Walker
Kara Walker is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design who is best known for her work involving black and white paper cutouts. In these cutouts, she explored themes such as race, gender, and sexuality. Violence is often displayed in her pieces, pushing a message of the brutality inflicted upon minorities. It's especially interesting that most of her work is in black and white while displaying themes like race, something that I interpret from it is the stark difference between privileged white people and the struggle of people of color.
