Gargoyles and Grotesques

Gargoyles are water spouts, with a trough cut in them so the rainwater falls in and exits through their mouth. The name comes from the French word for gullet, "gargouille".

Grotesques are sculptures of mythical creatures for decorative purposes. They have no practical purpose, unlike gargoyles.

  1. Great choices of photos for these evil looking creatures art, I like seeing these visual stuff. The second one gets me immediately because I has a feeling of the combination of ancient legacy and modern civilization seeing it.
